Endless Nameless Releases Today. Beat the queues!
Three months ago, I had an idea: I wanted to make a video game.
I have always had a soft spot for RPGs from the late 80s and early 90s. Games like the early Dragon Warrior, Ultima, and Final Fantasy titles. Modern games tried to take RPGs in many different directions, but added too many twists or unneeded steps to make things overly complicated. Sometimes you just need a basic story as a reason to get a group of adventurers out and explode bad guys for some fat loot.

I placed a bunch of my ideas down on paper and started getting to work. Three months later, I now have the first release version of Endless Nameless.
The story isn't much: a great evil known as the Unbound came down and wrecked the town you grew up in. He stole most everything of value and killed everyone, including you. As a disembodied spirit, you need to assemble a party of (living) adventurers to hunt the Unbound down and defeat him.
I didn't want my game to be a bloated app with a bunch of ads. I wanted it to be able to be played in-browser. Any browser. Well, any browser that allows JavaScript (apologies for anyone who uses Tor). That means this game can be played on most anything that has an internet connection.
This also means the game has no music and scant graphics. Do not expect a grand visual masterpiece. This isn't The Last of Us, Rez, or that VR Half-Life game. There aren't even combat animations (yet). There are a LOT of menus, and as of today, I am still hunting down places where I have placeholder graphics. What Endless Nameless is, however, is a solid engine with a balanced combat system, and it's completely free to play.
With this game being persistently online, there are MMO features that are going to be implemented. A global chatroom and trade features are coming soon. Player-vs-player combat is also in the works.
For now, I hope you enjoy this first part of a sprawling tale of adventure: Endless Nameless.
If you are interested in learning more about the game's rules and mechanics, I am working on a Player's Guide online. Any questions can be addressed to the DivvyO subreddit, facebook group, or twitter account.
If you're interested in supporting this endeavor, there is a spot to do so on ko-fi. There's absolutely no direct in-game benefit for doing so, but it will certainly help to keep the lights on in the server room.
